M/V Thor Modi floated


Monday 15th December, M/V Thor Modi was floated in Besiktas shipyard, Turkey. 

M/V Thor Modi is Thor’s second of four new builds in a specialised series of multipurpose seismic support vessels. The series are classed Clean Design, Recyclable and Ice-1A, are 64,4 meters long and a gross tonnage of 2084.

The first in the series, M/V Thor Magni was floated in August and the next two vessels, M/V Thor Frigg and M/V Thor Freja are currently well under way.  All four vessels will be delivered throughout the year 2015.

 The series are named after the gods in the Nordic mythology and symbolise, amongst other things, might, courage, love, beauty and wisdom.

These four new builds are built in conjunction with the Norwegian seismic company Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS).
